New ‘farm to table’ dining experience launches next month
The owners of the highly successful Mechu and Aprés brands are launching a new restaurant on Summer Row next month.
Described as ‘farm to table dining in the city’, Fleet Street Kitchen is a new dining experience that will offer unpretentious modern British flavours, with an emphasis on simple dishes sourced from the very best local produce and cooked on a custom-designed Barbacoa grill.
Due to launch on Friday 1st March 2013, the city-centre meatery draws inspiration from the grooviest country kitchens where fabulous design elevates a hearty, down-to-earth menu that can be enjoyed from lunchtime to late into the night.
The Barbacoa grill – the first of its kind to be installed in a UK restaurant – is a pure charcoal indoor barbeque grill, heavily utilised in Northern Spain where it is widely used as a traditional method for cooking meat and fish. Positioned at the heart of the kitchen, the Barbacoa grill will take centre stage as diners enjoy the theatre of its flames.
Downstairs at Fleet Street Kitchen will host regular Friday night live sessions with music acts and experimental DJs. This space is ideally situated to host corporate events, intimate gatherings and private parties.
Fleet Street Kitchen is the latest offering from Keith Williams and Mark Jones, the nightlife entrepreneurs behind Summerrow who count Mechu and Apres bar among the success stories in their 25 year history as pioneers of the city’s social scene. A whopping £1million has been invested in the project and owner Keith Williams is confident that Birmingham has the appetite to make it a success.
“Our flagship destination Summerrow enters its 10th anniversary year in 2013 and has surpassed all expectations with its popularity. Fleet Street Kitchen will feature signature details that our guests have come to expect over the years such as immaculate interior styling and the highest standard of service. But we have stepped outside our comfort zone, pushing the limits of our creativity to deliver a unique farm-to-table experience for Birmingham and sourcing British suppliers for the best possible ingredients. In doing so, we have evolved to meet the demands of our ever-sophisticated customers who are looking for provenance and a sense of identity in everything they experience.”
