JQ Common Room
The Jewellery Quarter Common Room is an exciting initiative that creates a network of inclusive and inspiring spaces designed for collaboration, creativity, and connection.
ABOUT JQ COMMON ROOM
Through the Cultural Action Area grant, the Jewellery Quarter Development Trust is leading a consortium of businesses to deliver the Jewellery Quarter Common Room (JQCR).
The JQCR delivers a dynamic programme of cultural, community, and experiential activities, built around three key themes: celebrating creativity, fostering collaboration, and safeguarding the future of local craftsmanship.
JQCR THEMES
Celebrate, Connect, Attract
The Jewellery Quarter Common Room is guided by three core themes – Celebrate, Connect, and Attract.
‘Celebrate’ is about shining a light on local creativity and craftsmanship, ‘Connect’ focuses on bringing the community together to share skills and ideas, and ‘Attract’ aims to inspire the next generation while supporting the long-term growth of the area’s creative industries. Together, these themes shape the JQCR and its activities for which you can read more below.
JQCR ACTIVITIES
JQ Microgrants
The JQ Microgrants Programme is an exciting opportunity for local organisations, residents, and businesses to secure funding to deliver events, activities, or installations that encourage people to spend more time in the Jewellery Quarter.
Grant amounts range from £10 to £1,000 in two categories (capital & revenue) with three rounds of funding available each year. Apply now at jqcommonroom.co.uk/jq-microgrants
JQ Lates
On the last Thursday of every month, the Jewellery Quarter comes alive with evening events celebrating everything made in the Quarter – whether that’s jewellery and crafts or food and drink. A dedicated “What’s On” guide lists the activities, and promotion is aimed at local residents and visitors to explore the Quarter after dark. Get involved here.
Made in the JQ
A new mark of provenance that encourages businesses to proudly showcase their Jewellery Quarter origins, highlighting the district’s excellence in craftsmanship and creativity. Building on Birmingham’s World Craft City status, this mark will be available to any Jewellery Quarter business that makes something – whether jewellery, food, or even creative services.
Coming 2026.
